About Stevenson's Art Store
Stevenson's Art Store was born from countless conversations in the studio about quality materials, dependable advice, and the everyday needs of working artists.
Founded by artists Calum Stevenson and Daniel McBride, we combine years of artistic practice with extensive experience in the art materials industry. Named after co-founder Calum Stevenson, our store was built on a simple belief: artists deserve access to materials they can trust, backed by honest advice from people who use them every day.
As practising artists, we don't just sell these materials, we rely on them in our own studios. That experience shapes every product we choose to stock and every recommendation we make.
Rather than offering the biggest catalogue, we've chosen to build a carefully selected range of materials we genuinely believe in. Every product earns its place through quality, performance, and value, giving artists confidence that every recommendation comes from real experience.

Calum Stevenson
Co-Founder & Artist
Calum Stevenson is an artist and co-founder of Stevenson's Art Store. Best known for his atmospheric figurative paintings that explore colour, light, and the character of everyday places, Calum studied at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design before completing his education at the Glasgow School of Art.
In 2021, Calum became the youngest and the first Scottish winner of Sky Portrait Artist of the Year. His winning portrait of violinist Nicola Benedetti now forms part of the permanent collection of the Scottish National Portrait Gallery. Since then, he has painted notable figures including Dame Judi Dench and Stephen Mangan, with his work held in public and private collections throughout the UK.
As a practising artist, Calum understands the importance of dependable, high-quality materials. His experience in the studio helps shape the range at Stevenson's Art Store, ensuring every product is selected with the needs of working artists in mind.
Daniel McBride
Co-Founder & Art Materials Specialist
Daniel McBride is co-founder of Stevenson's Art Store, bringing together a decade of experience in the art materials industry with his own practice as a self-taught artist. As Business Manager for one of the UK's leading art materials suppliers, he worked closely with artists, educators, and manufacturers, developing an expert understanding of artists' materials, techniques, and the products professionals rely on every day.
Driven by a belief that creativity should be accessible to everyone, Daniel founded The Art Hub CIC, creating opportunities for people across Glasgow through affordable classes, workshops, and community projects. Helping artists develop their creative practice has always been at the heart of his work, whether through education, community initiatives, or guiding others towards the right materials.
Today, Daniel combines his industry expertise with the perspective of a practising artist to help curate the range at Stevenson's Art Store. His industry expertise helps ensure every product is selected for its quality, performance, and value, with the needs of working artists always in mind.
